Notes By Round
Round 1: Westbrook ended up going in the
"spot of intrigue" at #3 overall. There were surprises at #10 and #11
as Cowboys Barber and Romo made surprise appearances in the first round.
Round 2: Palmer's selection with the
first pick in the second round kept the QB "reach run" going. Angel,
Ben and Rick bypassed RBs altogether through two rounds. Colston and
Lewis were somewhat shocking picks, while Johnson provided great value
towards the end of the round.
Round 3: Brees was the last QB selected
before a big dropoff at the position, but Anderson still followed shortly
thereafter. Angel's selection of Ronnie Brown marked the moment that
just about all of the dependable RBs went off the board.
Round 4: Boldin and Johnson were great
WR values at the top of the round. A run on top TEs commenced with the
Gates pick.
Round 5: Pass-catchers dominated the
round with Harrison giving great value. Rookie RBs ended the round
back-to-back.
Round 6: Angel got great value by taking
McNabb as her second QB before Garrard and Bulger were selected this round
as first QBs for teams. Johnson was an incredible value with the 62nd
overall pick.
Round 7: Graham and Driver were really
good values.
Round 8: Gostkowski and San Diego D/ST
started the run on K and D/ST one round earlier than anticipated.
Smith was a gargantuan reach at QB, but Leinart provides incredible upside.
Round 9: Benjamin really rolled the dice
on big improvement with the Cleveland defense; the special teams unit was
already really good though.
Round 10: Nugent will be a boom-or-bust
pick based on how much more accurate he is able to become this year.
