DRAG RACING

We have covered NHRA in the past, but we are taking our coverage in 2008 to a brand new level.  We are happy to welcome on board FDH Fantasy Drag Racing correspondant Jeff Weber, who has provided invaluable help to us in our coverage.  We conducted a fantasy drag racing draft on January 27 as a special segment on THE FDH LOUNGE (Sunday 8-11 PM EDT on SportsTalkNetwork.com) as a means of demonstrating to the readers, viewers and listeners of FDH content how to take their enjoyment of drag racing to the next level with a pool to be enjoyed among friends.

As with any sports that we cover, we furnish suggested league guidelines for your convenience.  So we'll start with that, then furnish our draft board.

SUGGESTED LEAGUE GUIDELINES

^ A standard serpentine-style draft serves as the best place to begin.

^ The ideal distribution of talent would be 6 teams drafted by 7 owners.

^ Each owner would select two drivers from each of the three NHRA divsions (excluding the bike circuit, which does not compete alongside the other divsions each and every week), with one additional "wild card" driver from one of the divisions.

^ Points would be allocated according to the standard NHRA scoring system.

DRAFT BOARD DECODER

^ Drivers are color-coded by perceived value in a 6-team league: the top 6 drivers on the board are coded gold to represent first-round value, the next 6 drivers on the board are coded silver to represent second-round value and the next 6 drivers on the board are coded bronze to represent third-round value.  Drivers are also broken into tiers of perceived value; everytime a driver is underlined, that represents a break in value between the end of that tier and the beginning of the next.

^ The "Stat" column contains a statistic that represents our FDH standard deviation from the mean calculation to measure a driver's production proportionally against the field over the past three years.  For an understanding of how standard deviation from the mean works, click here.  Drivers with an "NA" did not accrue points over each of the last three years.  Drivers with names in bold finished on the positive side of the spectrum in terms of proportion to the rest of the field in all of the last three years.  The "Rk" column next to "Stat" measures the drivers from 1-10 in this category.

^ The points accrued by each driver in the 2007, 2006 and 2005 seasons are listed, along with the ranking for each season.
